Overwhelmed To Empowered: Heal Anxiety Naturally with Hypnotherapy

People of all ages are living with constant overwhelm and anxious feelings these days. It’s upsetting to witness this issue become such a normalized part of our emotional landscape—as common as a condiment: “pass the ketchup, pass the anxiety.”

Anxiousness itself is not all bad. It can heighten us, energize us, and keep us alert so we don’t miss anything.

Automatic anxious feelings we cannot rein in will impact our personal power, confidence and relationships, hold us back, and yes, cost us money, possibly, due to resulting mental confusion, or lack of self-belief.

It doesn’t have to be that way. Anxiety is not a life-long travel companion. By finding the root cause for the issue in the subconscious, it’s possible to reset the body-mind and regain a sense of calm, grounded control.  I’ve done it with many clients and am always amazed at the findings related to its source revealing vulnerable, tender, and completely unique moments in each person’s journey.

4 Common Guidelines to Searching the Subconscious for the Source of Anxiety

When I am working with a client to delve into the subconscious to look for the root cause of anxiousness, I will let them know several things in advance of a session:

  1. There will be no direct line to the source of the issue.  It’s like following a subway map of New York city tracing back the inquiry to the source point of when things first began.

  2. The source is most often found in the child mind, or youth mind, which has unique ways of mapping meaning, creating beliefs, and understanding one’s place in the world which are completely different from those of an adult. So be compassionate with all aspects of yourself as you go.

  3. In my experience, the source or “first footprint” has never been what one would think.

  4. The source will always be related to an earlier time of significant emotional distress where life felt completely out of control, which is beyond one’s current full recall, and/or conscious adult reference.

Not all anxiousness is the same. Each person has their own pattern, their own story, their own set of triggers. That’s what makes hypnotherapy so individualized—and so powerful. As one connects to a long-forgotten past event in hypnosis, a richer understanding of how much life we have lived IN CONTROL also begins to fill in, building a renewed appreciation for our resilience and capacity to handle life’s ongoing challenges.

When Your Emotional System Takes the Wheel

This blog is dedicated to anyone who has experienced those uncontrollable, heightened waves of anxious feelings—where it’s as if your emotional body grabs the steering wheel of your life and does everything at once: foot on the brake, then on the gas, wipers on, horn blaring, and radio blasting.

Ever felt that way?

Most of us have at some point. But when it becomes a regular experience, one that is “worried about happening again”, there is usually something deeper driving it.

In my experience working with clients, nine times out of ten, there is a root cause—a “foundational event”—tucked away in long ago memories, buried within the subconscious mind.

In a hypnotherapy session, we will look to uncover a past event that created a powerful sense of being out of control. That experience becomes anchored in the body-mind memory banks, leaving behind an emotional footprint.

As life moves forward, other experiences carrying similar emotional tones begin to layer onto that original emotional footprint. Over time, this builds and builds as the mind sorts data into “like/not like” categories.

Until one day, the nervous system simply runs out of capacity to regulate the buildup of scary, out of control feelings which are fully alive at full throttle in the present moment, even though it is most likely playing out an old emotional pattern with deep roots in the past.

It’s like water on the stove—one moment it’s calm, and the next, it’s boiling.

How is this possible? Well, the subconscious does not know time.  To learn more about your subconscious mind’s amazing influence in your life—check out my Brain Basics video to learn some fascinating facts to help you manage your mindset.

Reclaim Your Control By Healing the first source

When we access the subconscious memory banks to find the much younger part holding the source of the anxiousness issue, everything begins to change. We can meet that younger part of the self. We can support it, heal it, and release what it has been holding—fear, helplessness, that first massive sense of life being out of control.

Then we begin to separate from it, lessening its grip on our life. We bring in the adult self. We reintroduce personal agency. We remind the nervous system: you are not that younger version of you anymore.

These old limiting patterns live in the subconscious mind like filters. They quietly shape how we react, how we interpret situations, how we show up as teens and adults. Most importantly, these limiting patterns influence what we believe we are capable of.

Whether we like it or not, the brain is always running old programs behind the scenes. And this is exactly where hypnotherapy is so effective—we can locate those programs, bring them into awareness, and change them.

Inner Calm is a modern Success strategy

Modern life is moving at the speed of light—and most nervous systems can’t keep up. Being able to access inner calm and regulate our nervous system is no longer optional. It’s a key success factor, whether we like it or not.

We don’t want anxiousness to become part of our identity. The brain needs rest. It needs space to recalibrate and restore energy. Without that space, we quietly deplete our internal resources—and over time, that shows up everywhere.

When we understand that we can clear and sweep the subconscious of past events shaping our energy, outlook, and confidence, everything starts to shift. Strategically speaking, reprogramming the mind to help us achieve what we want is possible. Not addressing old mental programming leaves a lot—money, power, relationships—on the table.

Who wants to do that?

And without the ability to manage runaway anxiousness, clear thinking becomes harder. The sympathetic nervous system pulls energy away from the prefrontal cortex, leaving us distracted, reactive, and exhausted. Another reason to go after what can be changed.

We all want to live in our full potential and power. Roughly 95% of what we do is driven by the subconscious. That means there is a vast internal storehouse of experiences influencing how we show up—until we decide to dig in and shift it.  What if subconscious limitations are holding us back 50-60% in terms of what we are capable of?

Time to start a revolution in the way we think, I say.

I remind my clients of this often: the one thing we truly have control over is the way we think. We’re thinking tens of thousands of thoughts a day. Most are automatic. Many are negatively biased, shaped by old survival wiring. But once we become aware of this, we’re no longer at the mercy of “Auto-Think”. That’s when our real heart-guided choices come back online.

So, the next time you, or someone you love, feels overwhelmed by anxiousness, remember this: you can go to the source. You can shift it. You can reprogram your mind. With the right awareness and the right tools, moving into a grounded, calm, and empowered state is absolutely within everyone’s reach.

Calm is your point of greatest power and clarity.  Step into making it a priority—and watch everything else rise to meet you.

Go for it!!

Much Love,

Lydia
